Awarded by the Norwegian Design Council

Yesterday, the 11th of March, the Norwegian Design Council arranged it's yearly design related event called the 'Design Day'. It's Norway's largest design event aimed at the business and design community. It's also the Norwegian Design Council's festive day, where they honour Norwegian companies an designers by handing out the quality brand of Award for Design Excellence.
I participated the event, which started out with some really cool presenters, including Erik Spiekermann! Then it was time for the award show, where the Norwegian Design Council hands out prizes to the best bureaus in all different categories. There's also an award directed at young designers, called the Young Talent Award, which is given out to three people (mostly students) each year, with an additional money prize of 10,000 NOK, 20,000 NOK and 30,000 NOK.
I won the second prize! It was with the MI concept I won, some of you might have seen the winning project before in my portfolio – if not, check it out! The Norwegian Design Council has also published a press article about the project. The category had a total of 130 appliers. Make sure to also check out the first prize winners with a brilliant mobile heating panel!
«MI is a good, well thought-out product in several areas and aspects. This product has a high technical quality and the visual appearance enhances it further. A large part of this product's success can be attributed to the fact that the user interface simply works. This overlap between a TV channel and the Internet is an innovative feature which many people have been wanting. The market for this is huge. Viewers now no longer need to think about which media channel the content is coming from. The designer is challenging the industry with this conceptual solution. A lot of hard work has been put into this.»
In addition to winning and receiving the award, the MI project will be published in Norwegian Design Council's yearly printed 'Design Book' and shown at an exhibition at the Design and Architecture center in Oslo from 19 March to 26 April.
